Remember how ravenous everyone was when Cassie’s chaotic 4 a.m. morning skin care routine was revealed during the second season of Euphoria? Literally, everyone wanted to buy up that random gold vibrating face massager. Well, that’s nothing compared to Sydney Sweeney’s skin care routine — aka the IRL Cassie.
In a new video with Harper’s BAZAAR, the actress and new LANEIGE partner revealed all of her go-to products when it comes to her nighttime beauty routine. While she uses a ton of iconic LANEIGE products like the lip mask, your girl faithfully uses a product that you can grab just about everywhere.
The affordable beauty product in question? Vaseline.
While performing her nighttime skin care routine, Sweeney reveals that she first started using Vaseline in an attempt to grow out her eyebrows and eyelashes in middle school. However, the Euphoria actress quickly realized that she could use it as a gentle eye makeup remover and eye cream instead — and has been doing so ever since.
“I was finding that a lot of under-eye creams or oils, or whatever products, were not working for me,” she says. “It would make my makeup sit strange, and I felt like my eyes were getting dry, or it wasn’t right. And then, I started doing this, and, you guys, it’s been a life-changer.”
While the drugstore staple has been having a cultural moment after “slugging” took off on TikTok, its core ingredient — petrolatum — has been used for centuries and is FDA-approved for over-the-counter use as a skin protectant. In fact, Native American tribes in Pennsylvania first discovered its usage as early as 1415 to protect and heal skin before Vaseline founder Sir Robert Augustus Chesebrough patented in 1859.
Obviously, Sweeney is out here using way more than just Vaseline on her skin. You can shop the rest of her enviable skin care routine below, featuring a variety of LANEIGE products.
